D&J Favorites (Chocolate Chip Cookies)

These cookies are favorites of many of my family and friends; however, they are especially favorites of two – a friend, Dirk and my brother, Joe, so I re-named them D&J Favorites.  They are super easy to make and so yummy to eat.  A perfect dessert for many occasions.  I’ve made them for our Thanksgiving celebrations and will be making them shortly for an upcoming event.

 

 

1 lb butter, soft

2 eggs

2 tbsp molasses

2 tsp vanilla

1/3 c water

1 ½ c sugar

1 ½ c packed brown sugar

1 tsp baking powder

1 ½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

5 c flour

1 ½ pkg chocolate chips (12oz bags)

Preheat oven to 375°f.  Cream butter, eggs, molasses, vanilla and water; sift together sugars, baking powder and soda, salt and flour.  Combine moist mixture with the dry mixture; add chocolate chips.  Shape dough into 1” balls and place 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 8 minutes or until light brown around edges.

 

 

If you don’t have brown sugar, you can make a substitute:

Brown Sugar Substitute (1 ½ c)

1 ½ c sugar

4 ½ tbsp molasses

 

Process in food processor.
